Most of you who know me will wonder why I am writing about “Blogging Your Way to Riches” as blogging has always been a hobby for me. I am not about to quit my job and start blogging full time – I don’t think I could ever stop teaching. Even when things are tough. Teaching is part of who I am. “Blogging Your Way to Riches” is a book that has been co-written by one of my friends, Emma Bradley.
Emma lives less than a mile away. Our girls went to the same nursery, are at the same school and yet, if it weren’t for blogging we probably wouldn’t have met. Emma used to be a secondary teacher and gave up her job to write full time. She has two blogs, Emma and 3 and Mums Savvy Savings. Emma is one of the nicest people you could ever meet. She has become a great friend and is so supportive towards my blogging. This year both our blogs were finalists in the MAD Blog Awards – here’s a photo of Emma and I (and Emily) in the BBC Radio Gloucestershire studio talking about the awards.

Emma has so much blogging experience and it is so good that she has teamed up with fellow blogger Lynn James of Mrs Mummy Penny to write “Blogging Your Way to Riches“. As I said, blogging is still a hobby for me at the moment but the book still has lots of great tips in. If you have just started, or are even just thinking about starting a blog, there is lots of great information about how to go about setting up a blog and the equipment that you will need. Even if you have been blogging for longer, there is plenty in here about going further with your blog and social media.
Although I don’t make money from my blog, I love the opportunities that blogging brings such as days out and products to review. “Blogging Your Way to Riches” has lots of great help about working with PRs and pitching ideas. Of course, if you do want to earn an income from your blog, there are chapters looking at how you can make money from it. This is definitely a book for any blogger or potential blogger – Lynn and Emma really do know their stuff, and I wish them all the best with it.
