Easter Egg Hunts are becoming quite a big thing over in this country now, with supermarkets selling large packs of chocolate eggs specifically designed for egg hunts. Now whilst I will admit to letting the girls gorge on chocolate on Easter day, the amount of chocolate they seem to accumulate at Easter is obscene, so this year I am going to set up a chocolate-free Easter Egg Hunt. If you fancy doing something similar, here are a few ideas to help you.
Firstly, you need some fillable plastic eggs. There are some bright, colourful ones available from places such as Hobbycraft or The Range. These can be reused from year to year, so you will only need to purchase new fillings each year.

Once you have your eggs, there are loads of things you can fill them with including:
- hair accessories – think hair clips or hair bands
- stationary items such as erasers or pencil sharpeners
- stickers
- balloons
- small toys such as bouncy balls, miniature cars or cute little Disney Tsum Tsum Squishy Figures
- small figures such as Happyland or Lego minifigures
- items of make-up such a lip gloss or nail polish
If you did want to include some edible items then you could also include mini-packets of raisins or other healthy snacks.

I have also discovered these little dinosaur eggs which already come in their own plastic eggs and are also filled with slime. They even fit inside the fillable eggs if you wanted to keep them as a surprise.

If you want to make the Easter Egg Hunt even more competitive, you could also offer larger prizes as a reward for the child who collects the most eggs. I have a Peppa Pig 3-in-1 Puzzle and Peppa Pig Giant Playing Cards as prizes.

Then you need to hide the eggs. Inside, or outside or a combination of both. Just remember to count how many eggs you have to start off with. The children will probably need some sort of basket or container to put there eggs in such as this basket from Hobbycraft. Then, let the Easter Egg Hunt begin!!

Hopefully, with the sheer excitement from finding and collecting a basket of Easter Eggs, the children won’t even notice that there isn’t a mouthful of chocolate in sight!
